Mr. Byrd
Music Teacher K-5th
Mr. Byrd has been teaching elementary music at Hubbard since 2007 after other careers in banking and freelancing on his main instrument, the trombone. One day Mr. Byrd will get back to travelling. Until then, he plays with his black cat, Silky, and watches murder mysteries on PBS with his spouse, Ms. Brown. When the weather is nice, he also manages to dismiss traffic at the 4-way stop at 6th Avenue and Spurgeon. "Sing loud, y'all!"
Having kids of my own showed me that I have the patience to make music with young people. Besides that, it's much more fun than helping people with their money! (Mr. Byrd was an assistant vice president at a bank before becoming a teacher.)
“I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly, music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning”
― Plato.
After school, Mr. Byrd usually has a nap on the couch with Silky, his black cat.
